Principal’s Message

Tēnā koutou katoa, talofa lava, mālō e lelei, bula vinaka, fakaalofa lahi atu, kia orana, warm greetings to you all.

It is a privilege to serve the community of Forest View High School Te Kura o Te Wao Nui ā Tāne as Principal, and to work alongside our rangatahi, staff, and whānau. My own family are an important part of who I am, and they ground me in the same values we hold as a kura — relationships, respect, and a commitment to doing our best for others.

At the heart of our kura is a simple belief: every rangatahi can succeed when they are supported, challenged, and known. Our role is to create the conditions where that happens consistently through clear expectations, strong relationships, and systems that support both learning and wellbeing.

Our values of kia kaha, kia toa, and kia manawanui guide this work, encouraging our rangatahi and staff to be strong, to be courageous, and to show perseverance in all that they do.

Kura are busy, complex places. There are always challenges, and there is always work to do. What matters is how we respond. As a team, we are focused on building a kura where rangatahi feel safe, staff feel supported, and learning is the priority every day.

We are committed to:

  • Strengthening attendance and engagement
  • Ensuring high-quality teaching and learning in every classroom
  • Building a positive, inclusive school culture
  • Working in partnership with whānau and our wider community

This work is not about quick fixes. It is about consistency over time. When we get the basics right and support each other to grow, we create a kura that works, not just for today, but for the future.

I am proud of the progress we are making together, and I look forward to continuing this journey with our community.

Ngā mihi nui,
Andrew
