Year 8 Open Days
Year 8 Open Days
Year 8 Open Days • News • Forest View High School
Having visited all Year 8 students in our community, both pre and post lockdown, it was awesome to finally host them in our space. Tuesday 21st September Year 8s from Tokoroa Intermediate and Amisfield Primary attended Open day 1, whilst on Thursday 23rd September students from Tainui, Whakamaru and Mangakino attended Open Day 2.
Senior leaders together with Year 9 leaders, formed a guard of honour resplendent in number one uniforms. Year 8s were immediately put into bubbles and assigned two junior leaders to look after them.
As our visitors entered the Auditorium, they heard and enjoyed the soulful singing of Angel, Faith and Kiana as well as a solo by Moeroa. Once we were all settled, Matua Kotiau welcomed our manuhiri and blessed our gathering. We enjoyed a kai from our amazing Food in School Team as we were entertained by Te Piringatahi and Polinetia Faatasi. After a short and sweet meet and greet with our Principal Mrs Hale and Year 9 Kaitiaki Mr Tasi, Year 8s embarked on an Amazing Race.
Getting lost when changing subject classes is a stressor for Year 8s. The objective of the Amazing Race was to give the Year 8s the opportunity to explore our school and learn where key places and people are found. Our visitors, together with family, were able to see school operating as per normal.
Enrolment information packs were given out before farewells. The two smaller Open Days allow us to see and get to know the Year 8s. I had the support of the whole staff and together we were able to showcase our school. Open Days 2021 were enjoyable and all about the Year 8s and their families. Open Days were a success.
