After 21 years we bid farewell to the Pasifika by Nature secondary schools’ competition. Te Piringatahi Kapa Haka and Poinetia Fa’atasi performed beautifully in the final showcase on Saturday 8th May at Claudelands Showgrounds in Hamilton.
Practicing a couple of evenings at the end of their holidays and all of the first week of Term 2 the combined group pulled off an outstanding performance, being awarded the Best Contribution to Pasifika by Nature trophy with Tokoroa High School, Best Hawaiian performance, Best Aotearoa performance and the Runner Up trophy.
Our sincere thanks go to Tatyana Stowers-Potoru, Rangikura Ford, Jocelyn Paiti, Apera Brown, Gypsy Koteka who are the various tutors of each discipline, all the staff, parents and supporters who helped with the preparation and helped backstage on the day; thank you all very much.
The theme for the competition was ‘Celebrating Pasifika’, and we’re stoked that our students had the opportunity to leave their mark on the stage, and that they did. Well done to our students, we are all very proud of your achievements. Congratulations to Tokoroa High School’s Puna Vai Ora group on their wonderful success at the final Pasifika by Nature.
